DESCRIPTION:Heartwood Sangha is pleased to announce that Lama Rod Owens will teach at Heartwood on Saturday\, April 1 from 12pm to 2pm in the Skylight Room.\n \n\nAn author\, activist\, and authorized Lama in the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism\, Lama Rod calls himself a “Black Buddhist Southern Queen.” A leading voice in a new generation of Buddhist teachers\, he is the co-founder of Bhumisparsha\, a Buddhist tantric practice and study community that is helping shape a new and vibrant American Vajrayana. \n\nLama Rod holds a Master of Divinity in Buddhist Studies from Harvard Divinity School where he focused on the intersection of social change\, identity\, and spiritual practice. He is the author of Love and Rage: The Path of Liberation Through Anger\, and a co-author of Radical Dharma\, Talking Race\, Love\, and Liberation\, which explores race in the context of American Buddhist communities\, with a new book coming out next year.\n\nLama Rod will teach at Heartwood in conjunction with a visit and talk at Northwestern University.
