Women’s Winter Solstice Workshop

Posted on November 10, 2016

Please join Corinne Peterson and Myrna Weinman for an afternoon of NIA, Yoga, and Yoga Nidra!

Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM (CST) at Heartwood

m-c-largeWe will join together as women in preparation for Winter Solstice through movement and deep relaxation.  As the nights become longer we go inward to replenish our deep inner well, filling our reserves with healing, rejuvenation, love and light.  Together we prepare for the coming Winter Solstice and the returning of the Light.  All women are welcome – bring your friends, sisters, mothers – all those women you hold dear!  No experience necessary.  Please bring whatever you need for comfort and support to lie on the floor for yoga nidra (mat, blaket, pillows…).  The practice can also be done sitting in a chair.  We look forward to seeing you then!

What is Nia? Nia’s philosophy is: “Through Movement We Find Health.”  Based on the idea that exercise should feel good inside and out, Nia is a somatic movement practice that incorporates matrial arts, dance arts and healing arts.  As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being.  Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.  Expect simple repetitive choreography combined with whole body movement that is completely adaptable and can be done from a chair.

What is Yoga Nidra? iRest® Yoga Nidra is a form of guided mindfulness meditation. It is a systematic process for leading the body and mind into receptive states of relaxation and deep presence. Through this process we are able to access inner healing and the pure awareness of being. Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool to help eliminate stress, overcome insomnia, solve problems, resolve trauma, and neutralize anxiety, fear, anger and depression. It is a process we can use to explore our life experiences and enter into a deeper connection with all that is.

$35 when registered in advance, $45 at the door.  If you prefer to pay by check, please contact Corinne at corinne.peterson@gmail.com or (773) 562-5933.
