THE SANITY WE ARE BORN WITH

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2016
7:00 PM

According to Buddhist psychology, sanity is not found by searching outside ourselves for something or someone to help restore us or make us whole. It is our birthright. The task is simply to rediscover and nurture that innate ground of healthiness–within oneself and others. Meditation provides the means for retraining the mind, so that our inherent sanity can become the unshakeable ground we stand on as we interact with whatever we encounter in everyday life.

This talk draws on teachings given by Buddhist Master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche to practitioners of meditation and healthcare professionals, as recorded in the book The Sanity We are Born With: A Buddhist Approach to Psychology, which will be available for sale at the talk.

Lopön Helen Berliner studied with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche for 17 years and has been a student of Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche since 1994. She has degrees in fine arts and psychology and a master’s in Buddhist Studies specializing in environmental psychology. She is the author of Enlightened By Design.
