Reiki

What is Reiki and what is it good for?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means “universal life energy” in Japanese, and it originated in Japan with a man by the name of Mikao Usui in the late 1800s. Reiki is a gentle modality that promotes the body’s natural ability to heal. The client remains fully clothed, and may recline or sit comfortably while the Reiki practitioner works either off the body in the aura or with a light, non-intrusive touch. Clearing and balancing are the main goals – to achieve harmony in all levels of our being: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. On the physical level, Reiki enhances immunity and goes along with all regular medical care. Reiki can speed post-surgical, post-trauma healing, and is an excellent preparation before surgery as well. Learning Reiki for self-treatment is encouraged, empowering the individual for his or her own self-care and self-comfort. Reiki sessions and training are available at Heartwood with these competent, compassionate and caring practitioners.
