Meditation in Daily Life

With Lopön Jann Jackson

Friday, June 26, 2015 7:00pm

Saturday, June 27, 2015 9:00am to 5:00pm

Sunday, June 28, 2015 9:00am to 5:00pm

This weekend we will study and practice the method known as shamatha, the way of calm abiding.   In shamatha meditation we begin by sitting in an upright and dignified posture.   This is powerful support for wakefulness and by sitting quietly, even for short periods of time, the mind settles down.   We train in following the breath as a gentle way to strengthen our attentiveness.   We learn to acknowledge but not fuel repetitive patterns of thoughts and emotions. Give space to arise, they subside of their own.   This allows us to abide in a state of clarity and peace. Learning how to abide in the peace of one’s true nature is the foundation, the path and the fruition of our journey.   This program will include instruction in sitting and walking meditation and contemplative exercises. There will also be teachings, and individual instruction. It is open to both new and experienced students.
