Evanston ReBuilding Warehouse

The Evanston ReBuilding Warehouse is a non-profit organization that promotes reduction of waste in landfills through sustainable deconstruction and renovation building practices. Reclaimed building materials are sold at the warehouse at low cost to the community and support education, job-training and job-development programs which foster individual, community and economic growth in Evanston and beyond.

The Munsel Foundation

Heartwood is pleased to be partnering with The Munsel School Project to help raise money for building a school for Tibetan refugees. The 44-room school plans to accommodate 200 children in one of the poorest rural regions of China. Nancy Floy is a member of their Board of Directors and she will be traveling to Tibet regularly. She is assisting Khenpo Gawang Rinpoche by teaching and offering healthcare services for the area, in particular for local women.

& Self–Defense Center

Thousand Waves offers the traditional martial art of Seido Karate for men, women and children ages 4 and up. They also offer violence preventions and self-defense workshops and courses.

Tsogyaling Meditation Center of Evanston

As a member of the Heartwood Center for Body Mind Spirit — a leader in holistic healthcare — Tsogyaling (pronounced "so jal ling") offers a peaceful place to come and learn the ancient practice of meditation. We also have a special focus on the healing aspects of Tibetan Buddhism. We offer these sacred teachings with the aspiration of peace and healing both individually and on a global level. In addition to teaching meditation, the Center is committed to taking meditation off the cushion and into the world as social activism in projects such as our Tibet Girls School.

The Center is open to any person of any faith or cultural background who wishes to learn the practice of meditation.

Snow Yak: International Voluntary Youth Union and Social Charity Organization

Snow Yak is an organization of Tibetan refugee youth who want to connect with anyone who wants to participate in their mission to help the Tibetan people. Heartwood is partnering with Snow Yak to connect them with the global community. Heartwood Founder and Director Nancy Floy will be traveling to Nepal and India helping to provide health care and medicine.
