Women’s Autumn Equinox Workshop: Nia, Yoga & Yoga Nidra

September 10, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Heartwood Center – Skylight Room 1818 West Dempster Street, Evanston, IL 60202

Please join Corinne Peterson and Myrna Weinman for an afternoon of NIA, Yoga, and Yoga Nidra in celebration of the Autumn Equinox!  Through movement and meditation, we honor the harvest season – taking time out to celebrate our abundance, turn inward to reflect, and cultivate our inner equilibrium. Please join us to replenish your heart and spirit in the warm embrace of this sacred space we create in community!  All women are welcome – bring your friends, sisters, mothers – all those women you hold dear!  No experience necessary.  Please bring whatever you need for comfort and support to lie on the floor for yoga nidra (mat, blaket, pillows…).  The practice can also be done sitting in a chair.  We look forward to seeing you then!

What is Nia? Nia’s philosophy is: “Through Movement We Find Health.”  Based on the idea that exercise should feel good inside and out, Nia is a somatic movement practice that incorporates matrial arts, dance arts and healing arts.  As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being.  Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.  Expect simple repetitive choreography combined with whole body movement that is completely adaptable and can be done from a chair.

What is Yoga Nidra? iRest® Yoga Nidra is a form of guided mindfulness meditation. It is a systematic process for leading the body and mind into receptive states of relaxation and deep presence. Through this process we are able to access inner healing and the pure awareness of being. Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool to help eliminate stress, overcome insomnia, solve problems, resolve trauma, and neutralize anxiety, fear, anger and depression. It is a process we can use to explore our life experiences and enter into a deeper connection with all that is.
