This series is designed for psychotherapists and other mental health professionals who would like to explore yoga as a means for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Through movement, breath and yoga nidra meditation, our practices will address the physical challenges of sitting for long periods and the emotional impact of working in caring professions. In this session we will delve more deeply into the CHAKRAS, a comprehensive model for self-understanding and transformation.
The word ‘chakra’ is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’. The chakras are wheels of energy seated along the spine, with each chakra corresponding to different aspects of our human experience. When the chakras are aligned, we live in harmony. When imbalanced, we suffer. According to this model, we can mindfully bring balance through physical movement, breath, our thoughts, emotions and actions – linking cognitive and somatic experience.
Our process will be primarily experiential, allowing the luxury of time to move, breath, rest and reflect. Simple client tools will be embedded in our practices.
