Chanting

Darlene Nelson offers Sanskrit Mantra chanting classes to people of all beliefs in order to aid them with life's daily challenges. In this nurturing class you will learn how ancient sacred sound formulas from India and Tibet can raise the body's vibration influencing your health, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Darlene's teacher was Namadeva Acharya, Thomas Ashley Farrand, one of the West's foremost authorities on the application of Sanskrit Mantra. No previous chanting experience necessary. Open Heart Circle is taught by six swami sisters ordained by The Temple of Kriya Yoga. We gather to share meditation, chanting, readings and techniques from many spiritual traditions. As a sample session: Katie Lahiff leads our chants with sitar or guitar enriching the chanting vibrations. Nancy Bush writes lovely poetry to share and Sharon Steffensen introduces a pose to release the body from seated meditation. Nancy Heggemeier uses mudras as a form of hand yoga. Mark Repplinger teaches specific practices for calming the mind and body in the Meditation for Wellbeing class. Offered in a safe and welcoming setting, the class is very good for beginning or continuing a meditation practice. The neuroscience of meditation and contemporary Western understandings of ancient practices — as well as discussion — will be included. Parenting

Andy Young, LCPC, CADC, facilitates "Parenting with Love and Logic", a skills-based parent education program for parents of any age child from toddler to teen. The class offers effective strategies for addressing misbehavior, preventing discipline problems, teaching pro-social behavior, and promoting responsibility. Tai Chi

Peter Norman has been teaching Tai Chi and qigong classes for more than 10 years. A member of IMMAHE (Internal Martial Arts for Health and Enlightenment) and the Tai Chi Foundation, he has studied Tai Chi and Qigong with Grandmaster Sam Tam, Daoist Qigong with Eva Wong, and Tai Chi and Qigong with the Tai Chi Foundation. Yoga

Colleen Hubbard, MSW, Rev, CCHT, Soul-Light Counselor, has a Masters in Social Work from Loyola University, Chicago, and a Masters in the Art of Teaching from National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois. Additionally, Colleen is an experienced and certified Reiki Master/Teacher, an Advanced Clinical Heart-Centered Hypnotherapist, and a Release Therapist. Margi MacLean — certified by The Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago. Her Yoga Fundamentals class focuses on establishing a solid foundation for a safe and light-hearted practice of Hatha Yoga as a part of everyday living. Corinne Peterson, MPH, LMT, NCTMB, RYT, is a group instructor and individual yoga therapist certified through the American Viniyoga Institute. She is also certified in "Yoga of the Heart," a program for people with cancer and heart disease. She has a gentle, nurturing approach. 773.562.5933

Ellie Pickering, L.Ac. MSOM, CMT, began studying yoga in 1989 and has been teaching Iyengar-style yoga since 1996. Her former teachers include senior Iyengar instructors Lois Steinberg, Manuso Manos, Roger Eischens, Judy Landecker and Leslie Riley. As a practitioner of Chinese Medicine and massage therapy, Ellie brings a wealth of knowledge to her classes. Paul Weitz. For fifteen years, Paul has helped thousands of people find greater health and wholeness through the benefits of yoga, Ayurveda and Thai Yoga Therapy. He has studied with numerous teachers in both the Krishnamacharya and Sivananda lineages. Guided by the light of loving kindness, compassion and humor, Paul endeavors to show others their highest potential and to help them experience it. He has been a featured presenter at the Yoga Journal and the Midwest Yoga Conference and leads workshops and retreats nationwide. Paul holds Advanced Practitioner status with the Thai Healing Alliance and an MA in Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.
